This soup might not seem to be super tasty, but actually it is one of the yummiest recipes I’ve made. After our book was released 2011 I was invited to Gothenburg book fair to cook one of the recipes from the book in my coffee maker. At the end of the day some people got to try the soup and they said that it definitely was the best food on the whole fair.
Maybe it was shitty food on the fair, but I choose to believe that it simply is a great soup. Dan made this soup for me on our first date. I thought when he said that he was going to make a soup for me that it was kind of a dull thing, but I quickly changed my mind after I ate it.
- 4-5 potatoes
- 1 carrot
- 1 handful of leeks
- 1 piece of vegetable stock
- 3 tbsp crème fraîche
- ½ dl milk
Peel and quarter the potatoes and the carrot. Chop the leek. Add this into the can, a stock cube into the filter thingy and water in the brewer. Start the coffee maker. The water should just cover the ingredients. Also add rosemary, tarragon and chervil. Let this stand in a half eternity because it must be really soft and well cooked. About four hours maybe. Then bilge half of the water.
Whip/chop the ingredients with a whisk/spoon (or use a blender if you have it – I didn’t have one at the time). Pour the crème fraîche, parsley and milk. Stir and heat the soup again for another hour. Season with salt and pepper. Turn off the coffeemaker.
Sprinkle some leeks on top and serve.
How to cook potato soup with leeks on your coffee maker.
Mash it all together.
We took some of the pictures above in the stairwell (because of the lovely floor). It seems like Iggy wanted to join us…
We have three cats, the old one Gucci, the talkative Iggy and Zappa – the crazy one. Iggy is kind of the glue which holds together the little cat family. Both Gucci and Zappa has Iggy as BFF and because of this they all have to socialize with each other. To bring together Gucci and Zappa closer we planned a lovely dinner just for Gucci and Zappa, without Iggy, so they might be able to get closer to each other.
And gosh what a nice time they had! Many good laughs and they really hit it on a deeper level.
1 dash of oil
2 egg yolks
2 shot glasses of cat milk
Chop the carrots into small pieces (carrots takes a long time to cook in the coffee maker) and put them in the can. Pour water into the brewer and turn on the coffee machine. Coffee maker cook them until they are thoroughly soft. Pour off most of the water and mash down the carrots to a smooth purée.
Dash a little oil on the coffee maker plate and let it be crazy hot. Throw the pieces of liver and coffee maker sauté until they are done. I don’t know really what it means to “sauté” but i think it works here.
Crack the egg and discard the whites. Whisk the yolks thoroughly and now the sauce is finished!
Plate for a cozy dinner and serve the liver pieces with the purée, the egg sauce and a lukewarm glass cat milk.
Cook for half an eternity.
Chop up liver to little cat bites.
This smells awful.
Egg whites aren’t good for cat tummies! So get rid of that.
The plating is always important.
What a handsome little fellow. Not even Gucci could resist his charm.
